Hello, everyone! For now I’ve decided to put posting here on pause and instead move the kinds of essays I would previously have published in my newsletter to a Patreon, FOUND HERE. I’ve loved sharing my writing openly here, but I am a now-unemployed disabled person who has to pay rent! For $5/month, you’ll get at least one essay per month and one poem per week. For higher tiers, there are bonus materials like cat drawings, chapbooks, extra essays, and reflections on my creative process. November’s essay is up, “PINCUSHION PLEASURES: A MAP” (excerpted below) If you’ve enjoyed my writing here, please consider subscribing! Either way—thank you to everyone who’s ever subscribed to or enjoyed this newsletter! Mwah.
"Once, drunk in a hotel room after seeing the Lizzie Borden rock opera, a friend and I began urgently stuffing every “unsightly” item in the room into the minifridge, giggling villainously. My friend’s boyfriend called over to us, “What are you two doing over there? Are you having straight sex?” Yes, we said, yes, straight sex: the erasure of the unsightly, encouraging it to shrivel in the dark and the cold. Leaving an unblemished room, free of clutter and snags."
